In loving memory of their son Jake, James and Karen Baker established The Jake Baker 27 Fund to honor his life and continue his legacy.
The fund is dedicated to supporting organizations and programs that raise awareness about the importance of mental health, prevent suicide, and provide comfort to families and loved ones affected by such loss. Jake’s story is a powerful reminder that no one walks this journey alone. Through their efforts, his legacy inspires understanding, compassion, and support for those in need.
Jake grew up in Thurmont, MD, where he attended Catoctin High School. He wrestled and contributed to his team’s 2019 football state championship. Jake was a dedicated athlete who loved lifting weights and set several school records.
Jake attended Clarion University, Towson University, and Slippery Rock University, where he played football and left a lasting impression on his teammates and coaches. While at Slippery Rock, he played as a defensive end and helped the team secure the 2023 PSAC West title and advance to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals.
Outside of sports, Jake had a passion for art, kayaking, fishing, working on his truck, playing with Nerf guns, and building Lego kits.
