Founded by the Church for benevolence.
Anne Bittinger was dedicated to both the Frederick community and her church. She was a women’s counselor, a children’s art therapist at Frederick Memorial Hospital and an avid supporter of Beyond Shelter Frederick, formerly the Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs, and Way Station, Inc. Ms. Bittinger died tragically in a 1993 accident. Given her commitment to her church, Ms. Bittinger had named the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ as a beneficiary in her will. At her untimely death, the proceeds were added to The Community Service Fund of Evangelical Reformed Church. This fund, held by the Community Foundation, was founded by the Church for local benevolence.
