Founded through Gene Barnhart’s estate for Frederick County residents studying agriculture or a related field at University of Maryland.
This fund is one of three created through W. Eugene “Gene” Barnhart’s estate and which will have a profound impact on others providing scholarships to Frederick County High School graduates pursuing a degree in agriculture. Mr. Barnhart, originally from Laytonsville, Maryland, and then Middletown, Maryland, was a farmer for most of his life, followed by a second career as an auto mechanic. He will be remembered and appreciated by countless people who will benefit from his generosity.
