Founded by mother Mary Alice Ramsburg and sister Sharon Gregory to support Literacy Council of Frederick County.
Kaye Elizabeth Ramsburg dedicated her life to education, serving as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher, a reading specialist and an assistant principal. She taught at Green Valley Elementary, Walkersville Elementary, North Frederick Elementary, Hillcrest Elementary, Glade Elementary, and Yellow Springs Elementary, where she was appointed principal. She was a member of the Frederick County Teachers Association, Maryland State Teachers Association and the National Education Association. In addition to her passion for teaching and education, she was a member of Glade United Church of Christ and enjoyed golfing, biking, cross country skiing, walking, volleyball, flower gardening, and bird watching. Reflecting her commitment to education, her sister Sharon Gregory and her mother Mary Alice Ramsburg turned to the Community Foundation to establish The Kaye E. Ramsburg Memorial Fund after her passing in November 2004. The fund awards grants to the Literacy Council of Frederick County.
