Founded by J. Brendan Madden in honor of his parents for students pursuing a career in plumbing.
Thomas Madden immigrated to the United States from County Roscommon, Ireland in 1955. He learned the plumbing trade and became a Master Plumber and worked for several contractors before deciding to open his own business, American Plumbing & Heating, Inc. in 1971. His wife, Kathleen, was the office manager while also raising their seven children. They closed the business in 1985, and Mr. Madden worked as a plumbing inspector for Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission until his retirement in 1997. J. Brendan Madden created the fund to honor his parents’ lifetime of hard work and accomplishments.
