William Hurwitz Memorial Endowment Fund

Founded by Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Hurwitz in memory of Mr. Hurwitz’s father as a donor advised fund.

William Hurwitz was a long time Frederick County resident and community leader. He founded Colonial Jewelers in downtown Frederick in 1948. In 1978, his son Jeff Hurwitz and wife Patty Hurwitz, joined the business, working closely with Mr. Hurwitz until his retirement. He sadly died of lung cancer in 1999. He was a mentor to the Hurwitzs’ and taught the importance of giving to the community and caring for others. Founded in his honor, The William Hurwitz Memorial Fund is a donor advised fund that provides support to various charitable endeavors in the Frederick County community.
