A local family uses their platform as business owners to support other families who have a child with diabetes.
FREDERICK, MD – Feb. 5, 2025: Dustin and Jessica Pease created The Pease Baseball Family Fund to raise awareness of diabetes in children and to support various causes. This becomes one of more than 815 component funds of The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
Dustin loves baseball and he has turned that passion into a career. He played at Mount St. Mary’s University and went on to enjoy a professional career that got him to minor league play with the San Diego Padres. He spent years coaching and working one-on-one with developing players and eventually opened Pease Baseball Professionals in Frederick to accommodate the high demand of individuals who want personalized and professional baseball training.
As the business grew, so did the Pease family. Dustin and Jessica have two children and after learning of their daughter Isabella’s diabetes diagnosis, they said they wanted to use their platform as local business owners to raise awareness and support other families navigating a similar diagnosis.
“Isabella was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 5 years old. We both knew that we wanted to try to do something to raise awareness of the disease and also find ways to raise money to support research to find a cure,” Jessica said.
As a leader in grant and scholarship funding, The Community Foundation of Frederick County has infused more than $94 million into the community since 1986.
