FREDERICK, MD – December 12, 2019: Beginning December 15, 2019through January 15, 2020, The Community Foundation of Frederick County is accepting online applications for dance instruction scholarships from The Thomas F. Waters Memorial Fund at www.ScholarshipsFrederickCounty.com. Students ages 12 through 17 who are Frederick County, Maryland residents currently pursuing dance instruction with a dance school or company located in Frederick County may apply. The application and all details can be accessed by clicking on the blue button under the Thomas Waters Dance Scholarship heading.
The scholarship will be provided from The Thomas F. Waters Memorial Fund, one of more than 720 component funds managed by the Community Foundation. The fund was established in memory of Tom Waters, a well-known Frederick County dance instructor who passed away in 2010, by his wife Karen Waters, and longtime friend, Joy Ellis. Throughout his 50-year career, Tom mentored, inspired and trained countless dancers, some of whom achieved professional careers on Broadway and cruise ships.
