Michelle Ayensu-Peters, a 2016 Frederick High School graduate, received an academic scholarship from The Wayne C. Neely and Margaret S. Neely Frederick Scholarship Fund, which provided her with the necessary resources to pursue higher education.

“As a first-generation college student, this scholarship was encouraging, allowing me to pursue my degree and future career without the burden of financial stress,” she said.
Michelle graduated with a bachelor’s degree from George Mason University in 2020 and continued her education by earning a Master of Public Health degree from Drexel University in 2022.

In her current role in the public health field, Michelle focuses on health communication, particularly helping underrepresented communities take control of their health. Her job involves creating and sharing clear and simple information to help people make informed decisions about their health. As a communicator, Michelle strives to ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, can improve their overall well-being.
