Scholar Success Story: Comfort Martins

Pretty woman

After graduating from Governor Thomas Johnson High School in 2015, Comfort went on to study nursing at Towson University. She graduated with a nursing degree in 2019 and has been working in the Intensive Care Unit at The University of Maryland Medical Center since.

She works as a charge nurse where she oversees patient operations across the unit. While she loves the work she is doing, she is not done with her education just yet. She has plans to earn a doctorate in nursing practice specializing in anesthesia.

She said she is concerned about the toll the opioid epidemic has taken on society and wants to be a part of a system in which pain can be managed adequately without reliance on opioids. Comfort received support from The Frank M. and Helen Elizabeth Erwin Scholarship Fund.
