We are pleased to announce the 2019 Wertheimer Fellows for Excellence in Volunteerism who will be honored on November 21, 2019, at our 33rd Annual Report to the Community.
John and Carol Ford are pleased to have left behind something that will benefit the community where they spent half their lives: an endowment fund that bears their name at The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
In 1998, the Community Foundation announced the creation of The Charles Thomas and Mary Ellen Main Scholarship Fund. The fund was made possible through bequests from Mr. and Mrs. Main; their wills instructed us to provide financial assistance for educational purposes to deserving children and young adults with financial need.
In honor of Black Philanthropy Month, the Community Foundation highlights funds created by local Black philanthropists who have made a commitment to improve Frederick County today and for generations to come.
Community spirit abounds in Frederick County. This is a place where volunteerism and generosity are front and center, and our community benefits greatly from these gifts. The Women’s Giving Circle of Frederick County has all these components plus one more: a passion for improving self-sufficiency for women and those who depend on them.
