Dr. Eliezer Valentín-Castañón, Senior Pastor. “The fund will help ensure that many projects important to the church will come to fruition and that we can positively impact the community.” The fund will support the activities and the mission of Trinity UMC, and will help establish long-term stability.
Founded by parents Wayson and Renee Murray for Urbana High School graduating seniors pursuing a post-secondary education.
Sixteen-year-old Urbana High School junior, Tyler Dane Murray, was known for his boundless energy, his kindness and generosity, and his ability to make others laugh. His bright blue eyes and infectious smile had an immediate impact on everyone who knew him. A fullback on the Urbana High School Football Team, number 33, he was a well-respected and much-loved young man. Sadly, Tyler’s bright future was tragically cut short when he died in a car accident in March 2007. To honor Tyler’s memory, his parents created the Tyler Dane Murray Scholarship Fund to award scholarships to graduating seniors of Urbana High School pursuing a post-secondary education.

Mrs. Vaughn’s career spanned more than 30 years with Frederick County Public Schools. “Jeanne was always passionate about helping students succeed,” said the Vaughn Family. ‘she was a shining example of how we must invest time and energy in our young people, and this scholarship is a way her legacy can continue to advance students in the education of science. She would be proud to know the students who apply and receive scholarships from this fund.”
