Kathryn M. Reed Leadership Fund

Founded by Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, in honor of Mrs. Reed’s longtime involvement with Leadership Frederick County and other leadership training.

Mrs. Reed was well-known in the Frederick community. She served as the Executive Director of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce from 1980 until 1993. She was instrumental in advancing the mission of the Chamber, and she was known for her enthusiasm for promoting the businesses of Frederick County. In 1988, she originated Leadership Frederick County, and ran this successful program for many years.

Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs, Emergency Family Shelter Fund

Created through Carole J. Benson’s estate provisions, this fund was established to continue the mission of the Religious Coalition to prevent and alleviate the effects of poverty on Frederick County residents.

The Emergency Family Shelter provides temporary housing and supportive services with the goal to keep families together and return them to permanent housing. Ms. Benson was a longtime supporter of the Coalition, and her legacy of helping others will be carried out through the fund for years to come.
