Sheppard Pratt Endowment Fund for Charitable Mental Health Services

Founded by Hahn Transportation for operational support.

In 2000, Bob and Becky Windsor and their daughter, Barbara, owners of Hahn Transportation, Inc., created The Way Station Endowment Fund for Charitable Mental Health Services. In the time since the fund was created, Way Station merged with Sheppard Pratt.

General Clair Wayne Shisler Fund

Founded with General Shisler’s bequest as an unrestricted fund.

General Clair Wayne Shisler was born in Ohio. He joined the Ohio National Guard prior to graduating from McKinley High School in 1930. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in World War II and the Korean War. By 1958, he rose to the rank of Brigadier General. When he retired, he moved to the Frederick area where he bought and ran a dairy farm in Burkittsville until 1979. His memory is honored through The General Wayne Shisler Endowment Fund and The American Cancer Society Endowment Fund, both funds created through bequests from the General’s will. Even after his death, General Shisler made sure others would be helped. The General Clair Wayne Shisler Endowment Fund is an unrestricted fund supporting local charitable endeavors. The American Cancer Society Endowment Fund supports the Society’s activities in Frederick County.

H. Reese and Jeannette K. Shoemaker Charitable Fund

Founded by Mrs. Shoemaker in memory of her late husband to support Frederick County Animal Control and the Alzheimer’s Association, Western Maryland Regional Office.

Jeannette K. Shoemaker established The H. Reese and Jeannette K. Shoemaker Fund in memory of her husband and in honor of their life together. Mr. Shoemaker practiced law for more than 40 years and was a founding member and senior partner of the law firm Shoemaker, Horman, and Clapp, P.A. He was active as a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in downtown Frederick, Frederick Kiwanis Club, Frederick County Fish and Game Protective Association, and other civic organizations. Mrs. Shoemaker served on the board of The Record Street Home for many years, and is a member of Tasker’s Chance Garden Club. As an animal lover, she adopted numerous cats from Frederick County Animal Control over the years.
