FoodPRO CORP Fund

FoodPRO, founded in 1935 by Niemann and Milton Brunk as Frederick Produce Company, has been a part of the Frederick County community for more than 70 years. The FoodPRO CORP Fund has been a vehicle for FoodPRO to provide grants to nonprofit organizations supporting projects such as food banks, culinary arts programs, food related events and workforce training.

Ford/Tolman Fund

Founded by an anonymous donor as a donor advised fund in memory of Franklin and Anna Tolman.

Franklin Tolman, an electrical engineer and graduate of The University of Vermont, met his wife Anna, a dental hygienist, in Flushing, New York in 1940. The following year they married. After living and working in various parts of the Midwest, the couple settled down in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania to be closer to their family in the early 1950’s. Over the next several decades, Franklin earned his professional engineer’s license while working for Line Material, which later became McGraw Edison. Anna was very active in the community, volunteering with the Bushkill Garden Club, the United Methodist Women of East Stroudsburg Methodist Church, and the Pocono Medical Center’s Women’s Auxiliary. While they never had any children of their own, the Tolmans were known to have welcomed a fox terrier and a long series of cats into their home, and remained a positive influence in the lives of their nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren. An anonymous donor established The Ford/Tolman Fund to honor the memory of Mr. and Mrs. Tolman by awarding charitable donations in their names.

Frances R. Darner Scholarship Fund

Founded by Merle L. and R. Rebecca Guyton for students demonstrating community commitment through volunteerism, extra-curricular activities and participation in character-building programs.

Frances Darner spent her life hoping to make someone else’s journey a little easier, and in her honor and memory, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Guyton created the fund to keep her legacy of a giving spirit and community involvement alive.

A native of Middletown, Maryland, Miss Darner was a devoted member of Christ Reformed Church in Middletown and was employed at the Potomac Edison Company in Frederick for 46 years. She was a life-long member of the Middletown Valley Grange where she was secretary and was also active in the county, state, and national Grange. “She was held in highest regard by all of her associates,” says Mrs. Guyton of her cousin Frances.
